Designer Spotlight: Midget Giraffe

Having effortless style as an individual is great, but when you pair that same amazing style with another, it's hard not to take notice of such dazzling eloquence.

Corey Harris and Linda Omeni are the owners of the aesthetically gorgeous fashion clothing line, Midget Giraffe. Corey, a New Jersey native, partnered up with Linda, who is originally from Nigeria, to forge the Midget Giraffe clothing brand that was inspired by, "Meshing prints and patterns from the East with tailored styles from the West."

The brand provides an array of eye-catching, unisex pieces that wearers can choose to rock day or night. The couple speaks on their reason for starting the brand saying, "We've both always really enjoyed fashion, style and all of the visual aesthetics they encompass. Fashion inspires us to live freely and allows us to tap into  the rebellious sides of our personalities by breaking the rules and pushing the envelope of what’s considered cool." The brand's clothing incorporates a lot of the bold Ankara fabric, native to Western African countries.

Be sure to snag these one-of-a-kind standout pieces available for purchase at the Midget Giraffe website here.

No Basics Brunch At Corner Social In Harlem

The sun has finally shed its luminous light over the city of New York, i.e; Brighter, looser clothing, outdoor excursions and weekend brunches with friends. (what more could you ask for?)

This Saturday, April 18th, fashionistas, music lovers and foodies alike all over New York were called out to the Corner Social restaurant in Harlem in order to celebrate the inauguration of the spring season at the "No Basics Brunch". Because, of course, the location of the restaurant is situated amidst the epicenter of Harlem's cultural hub (125th street), it was no surprise to see all of the dapper darlings (and gents!) who showed up in their best spring frocks.

The lively social event was hosted by Claire Sulmers (editor-in-chic of fashionbombdaily.com), Damon Peruzzi- a.k.a "Legendary Damon" (event host) and Ty Hunter (personal stylist to BeyoncĂ©). The event also featured special guest hosts such as Kehinde Wiley (painter), and Laquan Smith (fashion designer) with music indulgence by DJ Olivia Dope.

Today's New York fashionista comes courtesy of artist, Janessa Gaddy.

"I am an operatically trained vocalist and have been singing and writing all of my life."

As the lead singer of the band, Control+V, Janessa says of her collective,
"I am working on a short album of lullabies at the moment and have a few side projects including my band, Control+V".

On her solo musical plans, she says,

Much like her creative musical influences, Janessa says of this look,
"I kind of put this together this morning as I was rushing out of the house, but as far as my personal style goes, I really like abstract, graphic prints and thrift clothes!"
