NYFW: Betsey Johnson

A Vibrant Blast From The Past.

From pink frills, bedazzled pieces, retro punk aesthetics and color-blocking, you saw it all at Betsey Johnson's iconic 50 year celebration fashion show!

The collection, adorably-named "Betsey Button", was an ode to the decades, from the present day to the 50's, taking the viewers through a fashion roller coaster of the different fashion eras from the past. The first section was "Present-day Betsey" with neon colored graphic prints, linen fabrics, knee high socks, floral prints and platform heels. Following sections included frilly vibrant-colored chiffon prom dresses with an assortment of crocheted long-sleeved tops for the "quintisential" 80's prom girl. The 70's  era was change in scenery by offering looks that were grunge, punk rock and edgy from red pin-striped suits, black bandeau's, to black stilettos and corseted leather dresses. After the grunge phase came country chic looks with teapot-printed blazers and nightcaps to match, as well as fur-trimmed jackets. An ode to 60's mod was represented, as well, with white button detailing, skimming dresses, and horizontal and vertical striped four-pocket jackets. The "showgirl" section was the last which included Boo Peep headdresses, baby pink and blue puff sleeves and bedazzled crop tops.

The finale, of course, wouldn't have been complete without a proper send-off and "cheers to 50 years!" without Betsey's ever-so-famous cartwheel down the runway and split. Now that's how you end a show!
