Where are you from?
KH- I was born and raised in Atlantic City, New
Jersey. I am a graduate from The Art Institute of New York with my Associates
in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing. I am now a current student at LIM
College majoring in Business Management.
Favorite shops to shop at?
KH- My favorite places to shop is a hard question
because if I walk in a store and I like something I have to buy it. But if I
had to pick it will be Topshop and H&M.
Favorite fashion brands?
KH- It's hard to pick. I really do not have a favorite fashion brand. I'll go with Topshop.
Top 3 fashion staples?
KH- My top three
fashion staples are my different shapes and colored nerd glasses, lots of arm
candy to complete my outfits, and M.A.C lipstick.
Describe a typical outfit that you would wear? Describe
your personal style.
KH- I describe my style as being trendy and fun! I
love pops of color and I have a diverse variety of looks that I love wearing.
Fashion role models?
KH- My all-time fashion role model will have to
Solange Knowles! I love everything about her style! I take inspiration from her
when I wear certain colors.
Favorite fashion era and why?
KH- My favorite fashion era is the 80's because of
the bright colors, tutus and the jewelry they wore.
How and when did your interest for fashion come about?
KH- My interest for fashion was something I had since
a child. I love shopping and getting dress and playing dress up since I was a
young girl. As I grew older I knew I wanted to be in the fashion industry
because it was something I was very passionate about.
What are your current favorite spring fashion trends?
KH- My current spring fashion trend are the “Glo
sneakers” that have been trending. They come in so many different colors and
that is what makes them so cool. The sole on the sneakers lights up and you
have three different settings you can put the lights on. I loved them so much,
I just had to get me a pair. Topshop
has these really great low top and high top “Glo sneakers” in many different
colors. It’s a great trend for the spring!
Any advice for people looking to get into the fashion
industry?
KH- My advice for people trying to get in the fashion
industry is to go out and network because that will help you get started. Also,
do not give up, because hard work pays off in the long run. Everyone knows the
fashion industry is a tough field to go into.
Favorite fashion quote and why?
KH- My favorite quote is not quite a fashion quote
but I love the quote “The question isn't who is going to let me, it's who is
going to stop me.” by Ayn Rand. The
reason I love this quote so much is because it gives you so much motivation
when trying to reach whatever goal you have set forth. It’s sometimes hard to
stay motivated and keep going, but every time I feel down, I just remember this
quote and keep pushing on!
What trend that has disappeared that you wish people
would bring back?
KH- Thinking of a trend that disappear is hard
because many trends never really go out of style because they repeat themselves
all the time.
What is your ultimate fashion goal that you hope to
achieve from your work in fashion?
KH- My ultimate goal is to one day open my own
boutique designed for petite women. Being petite myself, I know what it’s like
to struggle to have to find stylish clothes that look good on me. Also, in the
future, I would like to work in a corporate fashion business office and be a
personal stylist on the side.
