Spring Street Style Trends! - Bold Pieces

Bring out the bold! Now that spring is here, young fashionistas everywhere are beginning to debut some of spring’s most talked about- and worn, trends of the season.
Bright, bold ‘look-at-me’ colors are the way to go this season. A classy eye-catching piece or two does any ensemble that you wear major justice as it is chic and sweet.
Paris Fashion Week was certainly an event that was widely talked about, with some shows displaying some of the latest, bold pieces to make their debuts in high fashion.
Today’s look inspiration is taken from a very elegantly dressed fashion-show goer outside one of the shows for Paris Fashion Week.

Here, she is wearing a very chic, tailored, long, red blazer with a black, suede turtleneck underneath and a matching, red, cotton body-con skirt and black, sheer leggings underneath. This look is very mature and feminine. The red color boasts feminism and individuality, while the black balances it out in a sophisticated manner.
When re-creating a look like this one, it is not always necessary to make your chosen bold piece match another item in your ensemble. Rather, when matching a bold piece, pick a complementary color such as black or white (these colors look great with any statement piece) as a second option for say your top or bottoms. If you do chose to wear the same color on two items of clothing, make sure your second item (most likely the lesser item) is in a different shade as the other item as to not over power it and make your outfit too overbearing.
Here is my take on this sophisticated look and a rendering of this high fashion look for inspiration.

Red blazer: Stella McCartney Iris Tuxedo Jacket
Jeans: Rag & Bone The Grand Prix Motocross Jeans
Heels: SAINT LAURENT 'Tribtoo' pump
Tote: MARC BY MARC JACOBS Too Hot To Handle Tote

Here we turned up the sophistication volume on our ensemble for a classy, femme fatal look. You are pairing this outfit with a white jean and heel as white complements red impeccably. You are also still retaining the red in your outfit by transferring it onto your bag, however in a different shade of red for a complementary color balance scheme.
Rock these bold, statement colors for a show-stopping, high fashion look.

Fashionista Spotlight: Zoë Kravitz

The daughter of musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, Zoë Kravitz has managed to make a name for herself by being a triple threat in the movie, music and modeling industry.
Zoë's movie credits include The Brave One, Angel Salvadore, No Reservations and the box office success, X-Men: First Class. With so many talents under her belt, Zoë is without a doubt a girl to look out for.

This edgy, it-girl princess has also been making major lasting impressions in the fashion department that has got everybody talking, making her our Fashionista of the day.

Zoë's style would be described as a mutual cross between bohemian-chic and edgy punk rock. With many of her looks ranging from floral looks to studded looks, she can definitely pull of an array of looks.

Check out some of my favorite looks below by her and learn how you too can rock some of Zoë's essence too!

This first look I think is just so iconic, and "so Zoë". Here, Zoë is rocking a woven-style crop top with a black maxi skirt and metal-soled black boots. Retro hippie sunglasses and gold necklace serve as accessories to finish off the look. To emulate this edgy look, look for a simple, white crop top and get creative with your maxi skirt by maybe looking for a high-low skirt or a red or blue option to make more of a statement.

This effortlessly cool outfit is perfect for any outdoor trip or doing rounds of bowling with friends. Zoë is wearing woven style tank, oversize denim jacket, high-waist black shorts with leggings and black, sheer leggings. She paired this ensemble with leather, black booties and a red, bead necklace and jade ring. The key to imitating Zoë's style seems to be to keep accessories light in number and making the statement with your outfit instead.

Got a cool dinner or movie night with friends to attend? Emulate this grungy look with ease! Zoë is wearing a fringe bandeau top with a sleek black blazer on top and rolled up, high-waist denims and ankle heel boots. Copy this rock n' roll look by pairing your bandeau top with a bright blue blazer and dark, skinny denims instead for a rebel-chic essence.

This more feminine look is ethereal and rocks a flower child vibe. Zoë pairs this gorgeous, girly sheer white dress with black, leather-strap heels and a red headband. Once again, accessories are kept at a minimum-if not at all- which makes the outfit the main focus. Imitate this look by pairing any light-weight white sundress with beige platform wedges to add more neutral color and a floral headband for a spring-themed look.

This casual outfit is great if you want to rock an edge while doing some nonchalant street crusin'. Next time you go out for a coffee run like Zoë (hey, we all need our fix) wear a skin color spaghetti strap tank, distressed high waist denims and any distressed cowboy boots you may have lying around from say, a rodeo visit, and pair those with a red, body-strap clutch and any over-sized sunglasses for a bohemian vibe.

Enjoy rocking Zoë's vintage-inspired looks and you too can become a boho-chic, punk rock princess.

If you thought that Zoë was done - think again. She has just recently launched her very own jewelery line! (how cool, huh?!) The nine-piece capsule collection , which launched under the crystal company's Swarovski Crystallized division, was inspired by Zoe's love of travel, vintage jewelry and her birthstone, Turquoise.
Check her out talking more about it in an interview she did with Huffington Post:

On inspiration:
"I really wanted to try and capture the colors and textures of places I want to travel to -- like Morocco and India,"

On what her parents think of her new line:
"They are super stoked! My mom saw it for the first time this morning and she said 'It's so pretty!' And I don't think my dad has seen it yet but I think he'll like it," Zoë said. "My style is very inspired by both my parents, so we all kind of have the same taste."

I ♥ This Magazine! (This Month's Magazine Choice): GLAMOUR Magazine

Every month I'll post different This Month's Magazine Choice' choices.

Here's whats in store in GLAMOUR Magazine this month. And why you should go pick up your own copy now!

Gracing the cover of GLAMOUR Magazine this month is movie veteran, Dakota Fanning. Check her out below!

On the cover, Dakota is rocking a cute Mickey Mouse cropped sweater with a bedazzling red, sequined skirt with gold, rhinestone bracelets.

Here’s what the 18-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On if she’s having fun with the “fashion icon moment” she and sister Elle are having now…
“It’s really fun when you’re getting dressed for something. It’s not when you’re in the rain with an umbrella and trying to carry a case of water. Yep, that’s me, alone, coming from Duane Reade. I’m not wearing a bra. Deal with it.”

On if she was surprised when her Marc Jacobs perfume ad was banned in the U.K. in 2011 for being “sexually provocative.” [In the ad Fanning sits on the floor with a large perfume bottle between her legs.]
“Yeah, I was! If you want to read something into a perfume bottle, then I guess you can. But it’s also like, Why are you making it about that, you creep? I love Marc and trust him, and we just laughed about it.”

On being single: “Yeah. I don’t really date. I have a weird vision of relationships because my parents have known each other since second grade, and they got married right out of college. I’ve always thought that’s what it’s supposed to be like, and if it’s not, then I don’t want to waste my time on it. Even when I was 14, I was like, “I’m not gonna marry this person. What’s the point of doing it?” It’s not me being naive. I just know what it’s supposed to be like. And I think until I feel that, I cannot be bothered.”

On if she’d ever turn her love of clothes into a career a fashion designer…
“I don’t think so. I mean, I won ’t rule it out, because then one day I’ll be like, “I said that in Glamour in 2013, and here I am now [with my own line].” But when you know designers and see the work that they put into making their collection, and how much passion they have for that—I think that’s so amazing. And I don’t have the passion to design clothes. It’s nice to be able to grow up and know what you want to do…. I’m reminded of that every time I make a film.”

On what little sister Elle has taught her…
“She’s very uninhibited and will try pretty much anything. Even the way she dresses— she dresses totally for herself. She risks being made fun of…by me, which I sometimes do, because I’m an older sister! But I totally admire her and think she’s very cool.”

Check out some more pics of Dakota that also feature in the mag below!

With the arrival of Spring and warmer weather comes the re-emergence of lighter, brighter clothes!
Bright pieces have been seen all over the runway this season from New York Fashion Week to London Fashion Week. But without a doubt, the most eye-catching piece (literally!) are statement sunglasses.

These statement pieces not only add a pop of color to your typical spring ensemble, but they draw just the right amount of attention to your face.

These come in array of colors, from bubblegum pink to lemonade yellow, each more unique than the last.

This spring, statement glasses have managed to make their way onto runways such as Anna Sui, Phillip Lim and Diane von Furstenberg. Want to make a statement with these eye-catching spectacles? Read on to discover how to pick the right pair and how to successfully mix and match them to your outfit.

Orange Statement Sunglasses:
These practically look good with everything! When pairing these sunglasses, you will want to wear a white top and dark jeans to balance out the colors that way your face will be the only thing to have a pop of color

Yellow Statement Sunglasses:
With these, on the other hand, you can pair them with a white top and bright jeans as yellow pops even more when it is combined with a complementary color. Opt for a bright blue skinny jean for an eye-catching ensemble.

Pink Statement Sunglasses:
Seeing life through rose-colored glasses? This color is very girly and fun so you can take it a step further with your outfit by pairing these with a graphic tee and a light wash denim jean. This ensemble totally says "I'm ready to have fun!"

Denim Report: Acid Wash Jeans

This edgy yet cool style of denim has become more and more popular. They rock a kind-of 80’s vibe which gives off an effortlessly cool vintage vibe. From baggy, to high-waist, to skinny, these chic jeans can be sported in an array of different ways. Read on to discover more style inspiration on how to pair these cutting edge jeans.

Acid wash jeans are very retro and edgy. Because the jeans are so cool on their, own, the rest of your outfit should be kept neutral for an all together classy look.
I've put together the ultimate look for the basic acid wash jean that you can hopefully get inspiration for your your next outfit.

Here, I paired the jeans with a long, white sheer blouse as it adds feminism and classiness to the outfit paired with Chanel black and gold flats for glamor, a gold bracelet, chandelier earrings and a gorgeous cream handbag to tie it all together. This type of look is great for the working fashionista or the fahsionista-on-the-go.

Here is a picture of Miley Cyrus rocking her pair of acid wash jeans with a long, white tank and black oxford shoes. Very cute!

The Run-Down on The Wedged Bootie

Finally! A post on wedged booties! (pauses for applause)..

Wedged booties have practically become a fashion staple that is suitable for just about any season. These stylish shoes come in an array of fabrics; from cotton, to suede, to leather and can be rocked with great little intricacies such as studs or fringe. Wedged booties are not only stylish but they add height and show off your legs in an amazing long, lean way. Read on for more fashion inspiration and see which shoe is just right for you.

Also, I am sure you are all aware with the fact that I am practically obsessed with wedged booties ( I include them in almost every post), so I want to give a more detailed inside look on these shoes.

The Leather Wedged Bootie

This more classy version is great
for a more put-together,
formal outfit. Pair this shoe with
dark blue jeans and a
sheer, white top for a feminine,
mature look.

The Suede Wedged Bootie

This version is more easy-going. Its smooth texture adds a nice, clean touch.
Pair this shoe with light wash denim skinnies
and a black or dark grey fleece top or sweater
for a chic ensemble.

The Studded Wedged Bootie

This more edgy version is perfect for our
rocker chick-rebel fashionista. If you are
looking to make a bold statement with
these babies, pair them with regular denims
and a grey blazer for a feminine touch to your outfit.

The Fringe Wedged Bootie

This version is perfectly boho-chic as
the earthy tones and fringelets totally scream
mother nature. As the shoe itself is already
laid-back and chic on its own, so should the
rest of your outfit be. Pair these shoes with
dark blue denims and a simple graphic or
floral top (try not to overdo it with this one).
A fringe wedged bootie also looks great with
a matching fringe cross-body purse, as long
as you keep the rest of your outfit simple and neutral.

Hope you enjoyed this post as much as me! Let me know which bootie is your absolute fav and which of these are in your closet.
